Using Sarab
Google Play
Register this device with Google once, so the Play Store and Google sign-in work.
The default Android image comes with Google apps: the Play Store, Google sign-in and Google Play services. Google lets only certified devices sign in, so it asks you to register this one, once.
Register
The first sarab start does this with you at the end of setup. To do it later, or again:

1. Open https://www.google.com/android/uncertified
2. Sign in, paste the ID above, and press Register
3. Wait a few minutes, then run `sarab restart`Until the device is registered, Google Play services keeps posting a reminder, with a sound. Registering stops it.
The ID exists only once Google Play services has checked in, which needs a network connection and up to a minute after the first boot. If sarab google-id says there is no ID yet, let it wait:
sarab google-id --wait 120-q prints only the ID.
Open the Play Store
sarab app launch com.android.vendingSign in, and install apps as on a phone. They get launcher entries like any other app. Apps built only for ARM processors will not install; see Installing apps.
When the ID changes
The ID belongs to Android’s data. If that is wiped (sarab purge --data-only, or a fresh setup), Android gets a new ID, and you register the new one the same way.
Without Google
Choose Without Google apps at the first start, or set up with:
sarab setup --vanillaThere is no Google account and nothing is sent to Google. Install apps from .apk files or from an open store such as F-Droid. Apps that need Google Play services will not work.
